About Rancho Rioja
“Veni, vidi, vini”
Rancho Rioja is an open place of green and free-flowing red.
While not a physical location at present, it is a place in my heart, a state of my mind, a vision of vines and leaves and ripening clusters, of hawks and hummingbirds, of madrone trunks glowing orange in late summer sun. It is the sound of a cork popping free.
The name is one I've toyed with for a long time, reflecting both my fascination with the ranchero history of the Alta California of the early 1800's, and my love of red wine. It seemed fitting for an idyllic vision of a place on Earth, and for a couple acres carved out of cyberspace.
Rancho Rioja the site will be a place for me to share clusters of images, ripening thoughts, and glimpses of whatever happens to capture my interest in travel, food, drink, technology, education, etc. The Main Gate is your entryway, a collection of recent images. Vistas are photography galleries, and the Journal is exactly that.
Please feel free to nose around. Mind the livestock, and watch where you're stepping.
